My dog training journey so far…

If you’d have told me 10 years ago I now have 5 of my own dogs and work with dogs full time, well I’d probably believe you because that was exactly my dream!

It goes without saying I’ve always been a huge animal, in particular dog lover so as soon as I moved out at 21 I got my first dog Hank, I met Natalie by attending her puppy classes with him and continued training with him through Quality Canines and a year later sought Natalie’s behaviourist help when I adopted another dog who had health and behaviour issues. It was working on the complex issues Vinnie had that really opened my eyes to working with dogs and so I took the leap and completely changed career paths by getting a full time job at a well known dog rescue. Sadly Vinnie passed away last year but I will always remain grateful for everything he taught me.

I went onto work in dog rescue for 5 years progressing to adoptions manager where I spent most of my time providing post adoption help and advice, during this time I completed my PACT canine instructor accreditation and gained invaluable hands on experience with so many different dogs. It’s also where my love for sight hounds came from, I now have 3 myself! 2 rescue lurchers, an Italian Greyhound along with my Romanian rescue and of course my original boy Hank the French bulldog.

Whilst I LOVE working with so many different dogs I will always have a soft spot for sighthounds and overseas rescue dogs - both can be very different to your average dogs and can require specialist help to build confidence and genetically fulfill them and channel their personalities which I am more than eager to help with!

I am also a self confessed obedience nerd and love all things competitive obedience- I have been lucky to attend many, many workshops with the very best in the game such as Anna Herzog and have learn so much by training sport obedience that I bring to my own Obedience Club on a Thursday evening too.

Keep a look out for my new lure coursing club too, I’m super excited to launch it!
